Colored Pencils--the Artists' Tools

What We Are:
The Tucson Colored Pencil Artists' Association (TCPAA) is an informal, nonprofit group of artists based in Tucson, Arizona, that meets once a week to draw, socialize, share ideas and art techniques, and promote colored pencil as a fine art medium.

Our Members:
TCPAA members range from artists brand new to colored pencil to accomplished, award winning colored pencil artists. Some members are interested only in pursuing colored pencil as a means of self expression, others are participating in national and international art shows, selling their artwork, or even teaching colored pencil art classes. TCPAA extends an open invitation to artists interested in working with colored pencil. Please see our "Contact" page for membership details.

Workshops:
The TCPAA sponsors workshops in Tucson, typically twice a year, which are offered to all TCPAA members for a small fee. The workshops, taught by professional, nationally recognized artists, focus on a wide variety of colored pencil applications, from photo realism and Trompe L'Oeil to abstract collage, and from paper to mylar, stone, and other surfaces.
Spring Workshop:
Our TCPAA Spring Workshop will be held on Friday, March 23rd and Saturday, March 24th at the City of Tucson Ward 6 Office Bldg. at 3202 East 1st Steet in Tucson. The instructor is Barbara Dahlstedt, CPSA CPX and Co-President of the CPSA District Chapter 212. The subject will be drawing metal with it's inherent reflections of the surrounding environment. The cost of the workshop is $100. We are close to being filled, but will start a waiting list in case anyone drops out. For information and or registration, please contact Maureen Lueck at melueck@comcast.net.

Exhibitions:
TCPAA colored pencil exhibitions are held periodically in the Tucson area. Previous colored pencil shows have been held at the Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum, the Murphey Gallery at St. Philips in the Hills, the Tucson Museum of Art, the Western National Parks Association Gallery, the Tucson Botanical Garden, and other venues.
Spring Exhibition:
TCPAA will have an exhibit for the month of April at the Unity Church located just off of east River Road. All the work will be 100% Colored Pencil or at least 75% colored pencil with other media such as ink, pastel, etc. For further information, contact Paula Olson at psolson1@comcast.net. The delivery date for accepted work is Thursday, March 29th from 10 AM till noon. The deadline for submittals is March 1st. Please send the submittals and relevant information to Paula at the above email address. The beginning date for the exhibit is April 1st.

Newsletter:
The TCPAA Newsletter, published six times a year, gives details about the events sponsored by the Organization and highlights the accomplishments of it's members. Subscription information can be found on the "Contact" page of this web site.
